The Engagement Center is excited to introduce an initiative that brings together local minority businesses and motivated young individuals through an internship program designed for 16-24 year-olds who are disconnected from employment and looking to explore meaningful careers.

The Opportunity for Local Minority Businesses:

We are inviting minority businesses within the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce to join us in offering internships to these talented and trained young individuals. This collaboration not only enhances the local capacity of local businesses without added costs but also contributes to community equity by providing employment opportunities for youth.

Key Benefits for Businesses:

  • Expand Capacity: Access additional support for your business needs without the financial commitment of hiring a new employee.

  • Community Impact: Contribute to the empowerment of young individuals in our community by providing them with valuable work experience.

  • Diverse Perspectives: Welcome fresh perspectives and skills into your workplace, fostering innovation and creativity.

How It Works:

  • Trained Interns: Interns complete training in essential workplace skills before joining your team.

  • No Cost to Your Company: Participating businesses are not required to cover the costs; the program includes stipends for the interns.

  • Ongoing Support for Interns: The Engagement Center supports interns with transportation, attire, and other expenses, along with regular check-ins and ongoing training to ensure their success.
